On July 13 of this year, with the objective of promoting, developing, and consolidating integral processes in connectivity and provision of Research, Development, and Innovation (RDi) services, Yachay EP and Red CEDIA signed an agreement to promote the Ecuadorian Supercomputing Network.

Jorge Martínez, General Manager of the Yachay EP Public Company, and Juan Pablo Carvallo, Executive Director of the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia, CEDIA, joined to articulate actions and take the first steps to establish a scientific, commercial, and corporate public/private strategic alliance, with the purpose of promoting, developing and consolidating integral processes in connectivity and provision of Research, Development, and Innovation (RDi) services.

The main objectives of this Strategic Alliance will be to generate the necessary technical/legal instruments that allow the consolidation of a public-private strategic alliance, among the intervening participants, and to promote and develop the Ecuadorian Supercomputing Network - REDESUP, through the provision of complementary infrastructures of both institutions, to promote research and the generation of supercomputing services at a national and international level.

This alliance has several important edges for the strengthening, consolidation and positioning of Ecuador in the Digital Era. At the same time, it makes the use of the Supercomputer Quinde I of Yachay EP available to Academia, Research Institutes, Public and Private Institutions, and is aimed at promoting scientific and technological progress, and contributing and accelerating the development of technologies and innovations.
